Divertimento #27: Altamira Drawings

Earth tone colors of Altamira drawings inspired this Divertimento.

27R altamira

Altamira was described by Henri Moore as source of inspiration for the great artists like  Miró, Tapies, Millares, Merz and Barceló, who were involved with The Altamira School. Great prehistoric drawings continue to be an inspiration to artists till these days.

Cave of Altamira and Palaeolithic Cave Art of Northern Spain are on the World Heritage List. Wonderful place to visit.

Divertimento #25: Purple Land

Henry Hudson in his book referred to Uruguay as a Purple Land. Most likely because of the stretches of the purple sage which cover the rolling hills of the countryside.

25R    purple land

This inspired me to create this Divertimento dedicated to this awesome country.

Divertimento #24: Nature

Rainforest, jungle and awesome exotic animals were inspiration to my Divertimento called Nature.

24R     green frog rain forest

This blue frog with black spots is very tiny, just about 2 inches. It looks so lovely – like some fairy tale creature, but this blue frog is poisonous.

Divertimento #14: Merzouga

Another painting inspired by Moroccan desert town of Merzouga

As I already mentioned, Merzouga was our resting place before we got on the camels and rode into the Sahara Desert. We formed very small 3 person 2 camels caravan and headed for overnight stay in a nomad camp. It was so exotic and romantic. Great adventure!

Divertimento #9: Marine Life

I think that Australia is my most favorite trip. This place is like a Paradise. Definitely must see destination! Australia’s landscapes are incredibly diverse. They include a wide variety of habitats for its wildlife, including tropical rainforests, deserts, rivers, mountain ranges and of course marine environments which has been inspiration for this painting.

The Great Barrier Reef is the breathtaking beauty. It is the largest coral reef ecosystem on earth – stretches for more than 1200 miles along the Queensland coastline. Luckily for me it is also one of the world’s most accessible reefs. Since I wouldn’t scuba dive I enjoyed an excellent snorkeling. The pic is a courtesy of Tom Hall and his experience of “Great Barrier Reef Dive & Snorkel – Port Douglas Australia”
