I created this abstract painting on a watercolor paper with acrylics, inks and watercolors. The painting is accented by black and/or white enamel paint applied in dripping manner which is characteristic for my Divertimento series. I enjoy the drip technique which was frequently used by Jackson Pollock in his action paintings.
Divertimentos – are mine small informal abstract pieces of artwork. They are mostly lighthearted and created to please and amuse viewers, although sometimes they contain peculiar messages and concealing symbols. Most of my divertimentos depict scenery or events encountered during my extensive travels.
About this Divertimento: A French lavender landscape is my inspiration here. Green and violet is the color combination I would never pick for my painting, but the nature did and I just love this combination and this painting; varieties of greens come from the grass and leaves and the purple of course from the lavender ….
I borrowed the term divertimento from music, because I like what it represents: “…an instrumental composition in several movements, light and diverting in character…” and that’s exactly what my visual divertimentos are.
